WA Division President Monthly Update - October

Dear colleagues,

It’s been a busy few weeks for our Committee as be finalise preparations for this years AVA WA Annual Conference at Fremantle’s Esplanade Hotel. I hope you’ve already secured your tickets, but if not then please do so asap. I’m absolutely thrilled with this year’s theme of ‘opening up’, as it has allowed us to schedule a variety of scientific and professional topics that should appeal to everyone.

I’ve just returned from my first overseas trip since Covid, attending last week’s Singapore Vet show. It was very pleasing to see such a vibrant event being held again. Maybe the world will return to pre-pandemic ‘normal’ before too long?

Members of the WA Division Committee met with representatives from DPIRD last week to discuss ongoing efforts to address animal hoarding. This week I will be attending the Advancing Animal Welfare Forum and holding separate discussions with the RSPCA on a number of animal welfare initiatives.

Despite the general business, I hope everyone has been well and I look forward to catching up with as many of you as possible next weekend.
