Tracy Turner 

Tracy Turner was raised on a small ranch in southwestern Colorado. As a youth he was active in the local 4-H Horse Program. As a young adult he apprenticed with a farrier in 1972 and used those skills to help finance his education. From that time on he has dedicated his life to horses. He received his DVM degree from Colorado State University in 1978, after which he was able to pursue his interest in equine medicine and surgery. He is board certified in Veterinary Surgery (Dipl.ACVS) and Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (Dipl.ACVSMR). He served on the faculty of the University of Illinois, University of Florida and the University of Minnesota. He joined Anoka Equine Clinic in 2004 and started his own practice in 2016 dedicated strictly to Sports Medicine, Lameness, and Surgery. Dr. Turner has consulted for the USDA Horse Protection, Federation Equestriene Internationale (FEI) and United States Equestrian Federation. Dr. Turner has had the privilege of working at 4 Pan America Games, 2 Olympic Games and at 2 World Equestrian Games. He has been selected to work at the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Dr. Turner is a member of the Am Vet Med Assoc (AVMA), the Am Assoc of Equine Practioners (AAEP), the Minnesota Assoc of Equine Practitioners (MAEP), the Am Farrier’s Assoc (AFA), the American Association of Professional Farriers and the Minnesota Farrier’s Assoc (MnFA). Dr. Turner has served as chairman of the AAEP’s Farrier Liaison Committee and has served on the AAEP Foundation Advisory Council, the Education committee and served on the AAEP Board of Directors. He is a past president of the MAEP.

Dr. Turner has been active in the horse community. He served 2 terms on the Board of Directors of the Central States Dressage and Combined Training Association. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Horse Council since 2002 and is presently serving his seventh term as President.

Turner Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery started in 2016 and provides specialized veterinary care in the greater Minneapolis area. The practice was founded upon Dr. Turner’s expertise in lameness diagnosis and surgery. The practice is completely mobile allowing Dr. Turner to practice in major hospitals as well as on the farm. It is limited in its scope of practice dealing only with sports issues such as lameness and orthopedic surgery.

Tim Mair

Tim graduated from the University of Bristol in 1980. He then worked for two years in a mixed practice in Kent before returning to the University of Bristol as a Horserace Betting Levy Board scholar to undertake research in equine immunology and respiratory disease. He obtained a PhD in 1986, and then stayed at Bristol as a Welcome Trust Lecturer in Equine Medicine.

He joined Bell Equine in 1992, becoming a partner in 1995. He has obtained diplomas and is a recognised specialist of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) in both Equine Internal Medicine and Equine Soft Tissue Surgery and is a founding diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine. He became an Associate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in 2011.

Tim has been editor of Equine Veterinary Education since 1996. He has an interest in clinical research (currently concentrating on MRI, colic, neoplasia and clinical audit), and has published widely in the professional veterinary literature (with over 150 peer reviewed veterinary articles). He has also written and edited several books on equine veterinary medicine and surgery. He has acted as external examiner for veterinary undergraduates at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and University of Bristol, and in 2007 he became a Visiting Professor at the RVC. He is on the council of the British Equine Veterinary Association and serves on several RCVS committees/sub-committees.

Tim leads the hospital services at Bell Equine, and has special interests in equine medicine, colic, soft tissue surgery and MRI. He also supervises our residency, intern and extern programmes.

 

Wendy Goodwin

Wendy Goodwin is a registered veterinarian in Queensland and has worked for the University of Queensland as a clinical anesthetist since 2010. She received her veterinary degree from the University of Queensland in 2004 and in 2013 was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy by the University of Queensland for her research thesis 'Studies of Alfaxalone in Horses'. In 2008 I she was awarded Membership of the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Medicine and in 2013 was awarded Membership in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Critical Care. In 2016 Wendy sucessfully became a Fellowship of the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Critical Care.

Wendy is passionate about veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia and has dedicated the majority of her professional career to pursuing excellence in this field. Her clinical anaesthetic experience has covered a wide range of species including horses, small animal companion animals, farm animals, avian and exotic animals and animals used in scientific research. Wendy has a strong research interest and is keen to further explore research and development opportunities in the veterinary and medical sectors. She has papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals and presented her research findings at international conferences relating to veterinary anaesthesia and pain management.

Jo Rainger

Dr Rainger graduated from the University of Sydney in 1994. Following graduation, she gained her PhD in the study of the “Pathogenesis of Equine Strangles”.

After the completion of a two year internship in veterinary anaesthesia at the University of Sydney Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden (UVTHC), she commenced a residency program at the UVTHC. After the completion of her residency in veterinary anaesthesia and critical care, Joanne worked as a veterinary registrar at the UVTHC until October 2012. Dr Rainger is a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in veterinary anaesthesia and critical care and has recently attained her Specialist qualifications in Veterinary Anaesthesia by examination with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.

Dr Rainger’s areas of interest include equine and ruminant anaesthesia.
