The AVA Victorian Division is active in lobbying government on issues relating to animal welfare and veterinary practice in Victoria.

The AVA has been communicating the heavy financial and emotional impact of the Victorian 2022 Floods on the veterinary profession which includes the large amount of pro bono for animal welfare responsibilities including the treatment of wildlife.
We understand the investment that veterinarians and students, have made in education and career and the reliance of the community on veterinary services to care for their animals.
The RSPCA has kindly offered assistance such as crates and pet food to vet clinics in the flood affected areas.
The AVA has been requesting from the Victorian Government additional assistance for veterinarians affected by the floods.
A new Biosecurity Strategy for Victoria is in development, and due for completion by June 2023. The new Strategy will define the future direction of biosecurity in Victoria, and AgVic are working with stakeholder groups across the state to ensure the Strategy ‘hits the mark’.
