From the 1st November 2022, the supply of plastic single use cotton buds and bowls is banned in NSW. Exemptions apply for scientific and medical purposes including veterinary medicine or at veterinary practices.

The NSW Government has committed a total of $2.5 million in one-off funding towards mobile animal care services to respond during natural disasters/emergencies and for proactive provision of animal care services in at-risk locations across regional NSW.

A lot can happen in a month so I have only identified a few issues to highlight. In addition, we are continuing to work with the Department of Regional NSW in developing the policy for the engagement of private and other non-government veterinarians in an emergency response, both emergency animal disease and natural disasters. We will continue working to formalise the AVA liaison position, that was first employed during the March Northern Rivers Floods.
